Retirement in Florida

My wife and I recently spent a wonderful 2 weeks in the South West Normandy area looking at homes with a view to retiring there in a few years.
We have thought of the idea of a retirement home in France or Spain’s Costa del Sol for several years but have decided to look at Florida as an alternative to the continent.
Homes in South east Florida are at an all time low price, we have found several units that are foreclosure properties with pools for a fraction of the cost of a French or home.
We contacted a few health insurance companies who have assured us that we can be covered well into our 80s which was quite a surprise for us.
Using our Florida home as a pension plan would not work as we are seemingly not allowed to stay in the investment property while using it as a pension investment so we may look into buying a second unit
We found an expat estate agent in South Florida who helped us to find exactly what we were looking for. Hopefully we will buy in the next few months, the problem is the choice of properties there are to many to choose from.
Ken at Look Realty www.kenduncanrealtor.com could not have done more fo us.
We highly recomend him
